T-Cross Ranch taking horse sales high tech

Posted: Updated:

Sixty plus years of prestigious quarter horse heritage in Southern Colorado is now combining its western roots with new media.  "It's the old west, if you will, meets modern technology,” said Bobby Norris from T-Cross Ranches. The ranch based on tradition also works to implement innovation in the business. "Come up with an innovative way to market these horses that's never been tried before."

Pictures and video of horses taken from the edge of an arena are common. "It's one thing to be sitting on the fence watching it, but quite another to be in the saddle and actually experiencing it." The plan at T-Cross is bringing the video experience closer to an in the saddle experience.

A drone equipped with a camera can shoot directly down, light weight steady cameras show the view from in the saddle, also the movement directly under the horse. "It really captures that movement where they can see how the horse is you know riding," said drone pilot and videographer Chad Penkhus. The goal is a virtual ride of sorts. "Which allows a prospective buyer anywhere in the world to see the way a horse travels, moves and his capabilities,” said Norris.
