Your Healthy Family: Flu cases this season

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

At this time last year, flu cases peaked across Colorado, soaring to a record number of hospitalizations.
Doctors say it was partially because of a bad match in the flu vaccine.
But well into flu season this year, numbers are still low.
By this time last season, Pueblo already had 125 reported cases; compare that to seven this season.
The City-County Health Department says this could be from a variety of factors like the weather, more people choosing to get vaccinated, more folks washing their hands, and a more effective flu shot on the market.
"The circulating flu that's causing illness in the community matches the inactivated component of the flu vaccine so what's floating around causing disease is actually what's in the flu vaccine," said Jody Carrillo, Pueblo City-County Health Dept.
If you haven't already gotten your flu shot, doctors say it's not too late.
They also recommend staying home, if you do get sick.
