Your Healthy Family: Flu Vaccine Clinic

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, there is still time, and those with El Paso County Public Health are hosting a clinic.

They'll accept medicaid for adults and kids and they're offering low-cost vaccines for the uninsured and under-insured.

Health officials say it's important to get vaccinated, not only for yourself, but to protect others like infants and the elderly.

"What you're doing is kind of a community service in helping to prevent the spread of flu to people who are particularly susceptible or who could have complications from influenza," said Dr. Jim Terbush with El Paso County Public Health.

The walk-in clinic is Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Citizen's Service Center off Garden of the Gods Road.

There will be another opportunity on Tuesday, January 12, 2016.

While this season has been slow compared to last, experts remind us all that it's still early, and activity typically peaks in January and February.

The flu vaccine offers the best protection against the flu.

Vandals dump sugar inside gas tank of pink Cadillac, business owner says

A local business owner is trying to get to the bottom of what looks like some targeted vandalism.  She says someone dumped a bag of sugar in the gas tank of her 1960's Cadillac.   The owner, Lisa Harrington, says it happened on Saturday with lots of activity in the store and in the area.  The Cadillac, a landmark associated with the store, was parked on West Colorado Avenue at the time. It wasn't until a few days later when Harrington realized something was wrong.
