Phoenix-based pilot dies during American Airlines flight
PHOENIX (AP) -
Phoenix-based Captain Michael Johnston passed away while piloting an American Airlines flight from Phoenix to Boston, according to a statement released by the airline.
Capt. Johnston was 57 years old.
Johnston was a Brigham Young University and began his career with America West Airlines in January 1990 as a first officer on the Dash-8. He later flew the 737 and the 757, before he was promoted to captain on the A320, according to the statement.
The statement thanked the crew for their teamwork and said that crewmembers took extraordinary care of the pilot during the flight.
