Congratulations to Our Grads and the Amazing D-11 Team!

Every year Colorado Springs School District 11 graduates earn an average of $20 million in scholarships, a truly amazing accomplishment. But they couldn't have done it alone. Behind these successful students is a village of almost 4,000 employees who provide crucial support and guidance.

“D-11's No. 1 goal is to continually improve student achievement. This is not possible without the partnership between our employees and our D-11 families,” says D-11 superintendent Dr. Nicholas Gledich. “This relationship is so important and so is all the work our employees do because it impacts the lives of children forever.”

There are three groups of employees at D-11:

1,920 teachers

247 executive professionals, such as principals and administrators

1,591 education support professionals, including clerical, custodial, food & nutrition services workers

From the start of every school day to the final bell, countless members of the D-11 team make a difference in a student's life. For example, a typical school day might look something like this:

Before your student even gets to school, she gets on her bus and is greeted by her bus driver. Next, your student might meet a crossing guard or an aide helping students get off the bus. Then she sees the women and men running the front office or the principal welcoming students as they walk in.

By the time your student reaches her classroom, she's already interacted with multiple staff members who are invested in helping her start the day off right.

Classroom teachers spend the most one-on-one time with students and therefore get the chance to make the biggest impact on student lives. Everyone has a favorite teacher who showed us the joys of books, made science cool or taught us the importance of hard work.

There are also D-11 employees working behind the scenes who might not directly interact with students but who still shape their days. Our IT crewmembers, mechanics and electricians provide critical services that keep the school day running smoothly.

As the school year draws to a close and seniors prepare to don their caps and gowns, superintendent Gledich says he wants to thank all of the members of the D-11 team for another amazing school year.

“I use the handshake as the graduates cross the stage at graduation as a symbol of our district ‘sealing the deal,'” says Dr. Gledich. “Thank you to all of the D-11 employees working together with our schools and district to get these students to the moment when I shake their hand and they enter the world prepared to do amazing things!”

Did you know that Colorado School District 11 offers more choices for parents and students than any other school district in Colorado Springs? We prepare every student for a world yet to be imagined. Connect with us on Facebook #CSSD11 and Twitter @CSSD11 and visit our website.
