Local company makes history modern with maps on apps

Posted: Updated:
COLORADO SPRINGS -

Thanks to a local company called NeoTreks history in Teller County, Colorado is now high tech. The company uses maps as a foundation for creating apps.

The one for Teller County shows routes and information on Teller County's history. "People just love using technology to explore the historic context and get that rich experience,” said NeoTreks, President & CEO, Michael Bullock. The apps give you ideas on where to go, directions, and an interactive experience.

The local app is the latest in a growing number for the company. They have many other popular apps getting people to places like Normandy, France and Civil War sites in the United States. A popular app mapping thousands of miles of trails for hikers and bikers was recognized by Apple as an App of the Year.

A long-standing Christmas display has been targeted by vandals.  Grinches set their eyes on human-sized candy canes lining Woodlawn Avenue in Canon City late last week. Several were thrown to the ground leaving them dented, chipped and some even went missing. While most have been put back up, many worry, these Grinches will strike again.
