Started at News First:  June, 2007

Hometown:  Fort Collins, Colorado

Education:  Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, minor in Political Science, Colorado State University

Interesting Fact:  I am a Type 1 diabetic and wear an insulin pump. Prior to getting this really cool device, I estimate I self-delivered about 12,000 injections. I'm always excited to hear about new research that brings us closer to a cure.

About Working at News First: We always strive to bring the most pertinent and accurate information to our viewers at home. That's a reputation the staff is proud of – and one that you can trust.

Favorite Websites:  I scan both local and national news sites every morning to catch up on the latest headlines, but you'll find me checking email more often than blogs.

Narrative:

Adam Atchison is proud to once again call Colorado home and considers it a privilege to work for an excellence-driven station like News First 5/30.

A graduate of Colorado State University, Adam is familiar with the friendly people and outdoor beauty that make our state unique. He grew up taking hiking, fishing, and camping trips to Rocky Mountain National Park and now looks forward to exploring what southern Colorado has to offer.

Adam joins the KOAA news team from southern Idaho. He spent four years in Boise as a reporter/anchor covering state politics and news throughout the Northwest.

While at KTVB, Adam was honored with two Edward R. Murrow awards for excellence in reporting from the Radio and Television News Director's Association and an Emmy nomination from the Northwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He was also recognized by the Idaho Press Club for his live reporting and television writing skills.

Adam likes getting out and getting to know the people in Colorado. When he's not reporting, Adam is actively involved in his church and spends time running, playing the piano, and talking with family and friends.
