Coming September 12 2008, the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center is proud to announce the return of a safe, creative, and educational alternative for your children on Early Release Fridays. Children may continue learning through the expertise of quality teachers and professional artists for $15 a week per child.
The Young at Art Afterschool Program began January 11, 2008 with an extensive arts enrichment course designed for elementary students who have early release days every Friday. The Sangre de Cristo Arts Center provides an alternative education experience for children affected by early release. Children will benefit from the expertise of certified, licensed teachers and practicing professional artists, a safe, energetic, creative environment, as well as a well-rounded artistic, educational experience.
The program extended this past summer into Summer Camps. These camps provided up to five hours of art education for children every week of the summer that ended each Friday with a film related to the theme of the week. The camps branched off of the arts center’s summer exhibits, Glitz and Glamour: Art Meets Celebrity.
The semester will culminate in December with a free public arts event and reception with concert, musical performances, art exhibitions and theatre in the Jackson Conference Center and Arts Center Theatre.
