KOAA 5 has created a partnership with El Pomar Foundation, to come together to established the Waldo Canyon Fire Victim Assistance Fund. This will help those people directly affected by the fire. United Way of the Pikes Peak Region will administer the funds.

"Our News Division exists to serve our communities. What better way than to start and lead a victim assistant fund for those directly affected by the Waldo Canyon Fire with El Pomar, a leading organization in Colorado, " said KOAA 5 President/General Manager Evan Pappas. "We are proud of our coverage and our entire company getting behind this very tangible fund. This fund will be a great opportunity for Southern Colorado to collectively work together to help our neighbors. We encourage those to give in this safe and effective distribution system set up with Pikes Peak United Way."

Regarding the creation of the Waldo Canyon Fire Victim Assistance Fund, El Pomar Chairman and CEO William J. Hybl stated, "This fund is a true community effort that will make an impact where it is needed most. All of the money raised will stay in our community to support those people affected by the Waldo Canyon fire."

El Pomar Foundation committed $100,000 as a first contribution to the Waldo Canyon Fire Victim Assistance Fund.
