Colorado Springs is Santa Claus' favorite city among those with populations exceeding 350,000, according to data analysis by researchers at Zillow.com.
The scientific analysis ranked large cities across the United States based on criteria including percentage of single-story homes (reducing the risk of injury in a fall from a rooftop), percentage of homes with children, population density (making it easier for Santa to get from home to home), lot size (bigger roofs to land on), and perhaps most importantly, percentage of homes with a fireplace.
"There's a lot of chimneys in Colorado Springs, and, of course, that's my favorite way to enter the house," Santa said while visiting children at the Salvation Army in Colorado Springs on Tuesday."If there's a chimney, zoom, I'm in and out very quickly."
Denver also ranked high on the list, coming in at number 10. All of Santa's Top 10 Favorite Cities are located west of the Mississippi River. Wichita, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Oklahoma City finished in the top five.
Santa wanted to reassure kids and parents that a fireplace and chimney are not required for him to make his Christmas Eve delivery of presents. "If they're lacking a chimney, it just takes me a little bit longer to go through the front door with my magic key," Santa said. He also reminds everyone that the Zillow analysis was limited to cities with populations exceeding 350,000.
