The battle to end childhood obesity is on.
Hundreds of youth from all over the county arrived in Colorado Springs on Friday to attend the Triple Play Leadership Summity. They'll learn fitness and nutrtion from Olympians and develop plans to curb childhood obesity in their own communities.
Mechelle Lewis Freeman competed in the 2008 Olympics and will be a keynote speaker on Saturday. She recognizes that childhood obesity is a "huge problem."
"You're dealing with numbers that haven't been dealt with before as far as one in every third person being obese. So we're trying to educate our children just about the statistics," Freeman said.
