A new electronic records system is giving you access to your medical records.
A patient at Memorial or related facility will now have access to lab results, medication lists and other items.
"No longer will they have to rely on only the physician knowing exactly what's going on with their care but they can really participate," said Dr. Katie Markley.
Dr. Markley is the lead physician champion for Epic - an electronic medical records system that's been in the making for more than a year.
"And they'll have their own web portal called my health connection which will allow the patient to log in, add medications and really communicate with providers and clinics to request appointments request medication refills and really become an active member of the team taking care of them," said Markley.
Patients will need to have email and request an account for verification.
Dr. Markley says this will help improve communication between providers and different offices.
"What happens is, we're now able to collect that data much better and be able to ask the patient more information. My colleagues will be able to use the information I've collected and vice versa so that we're really taking care of the patient as a whole, rather than in just fragments or pieces," she said.
The official launch date is November 2nd.
