Young man dies in motorcycle crash

The county coroner just arrived to the scene of a deadly motorcycle crash snarling traffic near Garden of the Gods Road and Chestnut Street.
Fire crews say the young man driving the motorcycle died instantly after colliding with a truck around 4:30 this afternoon. Southbound lanes of Garden of the Gods road are closed between Forest Hill and I-25 and crews expect the roads will be shut down for at least another hour.
Witnesses say the young man was driving quickly into stopped traffic and hit the tire of a black Ford F-250 causing him to go chest first into the back of the truck.
Fire officials say he was wearing a helmet and it was still intact when he died. The witness estimated the killed motorcyclist was 18 or 19 years old.
