Xeriscaping saves money

We all know spring means planting.  But Colorado Springs Utilities wants everyone to keep in mind how much water a plant can use.

At the Utilities demonstration garden, dozens of plants are already in full bloom.  There's lots of color and variety and all are xeriscape plants -- meaning they don't use much water.

Conservation Manager Ann Seymour said, ''People think that xeriscape is rock and cactus and it's not. There are wonderful flowers and and choices of plants that you can put into your landscape that will give you flowers, color and textures that will add to your landscape all year long."

The amount of water you save depends on the type of garden you choose.  More tips on xeriscaping can be found at the Springs Utilities website.
