Just when you thought every bit of Marilyn Monroe had been put up for auction - including the crypt above her own at a local cemetery - along comes the couch from her shrink's office.
Darren Julien of Julien's Auctions says the psychiatric sofa will be offered June 26-27 during the Hollywood Legends auction at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino Las Vegas.
Monroe used the couch, estimated to be worth between $800 and $1,200, when she was being treated by psychiatrist Dr. Ralph Greenson during the filming of the 1961 film "The Misfits."
Also up for auction are several previously unreleased color photographs of the star at a beach with co-star Tony Curtis on the set of the 1959 film "Some Like it Hot." The American Film Institute named the movie the greatest American comedy of all time in 2000.
"In the slides Marilyn appears to relax between takes on the beach," Julien told The Telegraph. "She is wearing the revealing dress in which her character attempts and succeeds to seduce Curtis's character."
An Italian-style carved chair with green velvet upholstery is also up for bid. It was used in the star's final photo shoot in July 1962 for Life magazine.
Other Monroe-abilia up for grabs: her Chanel No. 5, her lingerie nightshirt, personal photos, bank statements, scripts and signed checks.
One of the odder items on the auction block is an X-ray of Monroe's chest, which was obtained by a radiology resident at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Julien's estimated the value at up to $1,200.
