GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (AP) - Work is underway on a 4-mile segment of the Colorado Riverfront Trail in Mesa County.
The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel reported Sunday the $4.3 million project will connect the Walter Walker Wildlife Sanctuary to 18 1/2 Road in Fruita along the Colorado River.
Nearly $3 million of the funding is from Great Outdoors Colorado, a state agency that distributes conservation and recreation grants from lottery revenues. Mesa County, the Riverfront Foundation and municipalities are also contributing.
Construction is expected to cause delays on nearby Interstate 70.
