Some women are still of the belief that their babies steal calcium from their teeth during pregnancy. The American Dental Association says that's a myth.
According to the ADA, the first source of calcium used by the fetus comes from a woman's diet. If a woman is not consuming enough calcium, her body will take calcium stored in bones for the baby.
It's recommended that pregnant women carefully monitor their calcium intake and talk with their doctors about calcium supplements.
