The woman accused of buying the gun used to kill Colorado Department of Corrections Executive Director Tom Clements made her first court appearance Thursday morning.
Stevie Marie Vigil, 22, is accused of buying the gun and and later giving it to Evan Spencer Ebel.
Ebel is is the prime suspect in the shooting death of Clements and Golden pizza delivery driver Nathan Leon.
"Evan and Ms. Vigil have known each other for a considerable amount of time extending back at least 11 or 12 years," Vigil's attorney Normando Pacheco said. "They renewed their friendship when Evan was released from prison in January."
Ebel has an extensive criminal history while Vigil has no record at all.
Vigil now faces one felony count of unlawfully purchasing a firearm and remains behind bars on $25,000 bond.
A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for April 30th.
If convicted, Vigil faces up to 16 years in prison.
