A Vail woman managed to scare away a bear by throwing a pillow at it when the animal entered her bedroom.
Sally Rebehn says the bear was hissing as it approached her andstood on its hind legs when it got within 12 feet of her. Rebehn says she screamed and threw a pillow at the bear, which fled to another room a few weeks ago. Police chased the bear away and three of her cubs, including one that had also entered the home.
Days later, Rehben says she called the Colorado Division of Wildlife because the bear and her cubs returned every couple of nights and tried to enter her home again. Wildlife officers captured the bear and her three cubs Friday.
The bear and the cub who entered the home were euthanized. The two other cubs were relocated.
