Woman charged with attempted murder in incident at Twisters bar

A woman faces attempted murder charges for allegedly purposely hitting a person with her car outside a Colorado Springs bar.

Giavanni Rivera, 22, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when she hit several vehicles and a pedestrian with her car in the parking lot of Twisters bar near the intersection of Fountain and Circle around 1:15 Saturday morning.  Onlookers called police, who arrested her in a nearby parking lot where she had hit a stop sign.

The pedestrian who was hit was not badly hurt and refused medical attention, but the investigation revealed Rivera intentionally hit the person, resulting in a charge of attempted murder in addition to hit-and-run, driving under the influence, and reckless driving.  Rivera was booked into the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center.
