KUSA - Authorities with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation arrested a Commerce City woman they allege provided Evan Ebel the gun used to kill Colorado prison chief Tom Clements.
Stevie Marie Vigil, 22, was arrested Wednesday night. Vigil was arrested on suspicion of an alleged illegal transfer of a firearm in early March, based on information developed during the course of the investigation.
Investigators believe Vigil purchased the firearm from a licensed firearms dealer in Englewood and transferred the weapon to Ebel, a convicted felon who could not legally possess a firearm.
The licensed firearms dealer has been extremely cooperative with investigators, and had no knowledge of Vigil's alleged actions following her legal purchase of the gun.
The investigation involving the firearm purchase was initiated on Thursday, March 21. Local, state and federal authorities worked throughout the weekend to identify the circumstances regarding the purchase and alleged transfer of the weapon that was in Ebel's possession in Texas.
Vigil was taken to the Arapahoe County Jail. Her bond is set at $25,000.
