In college football, Colorado State University-Pueblo opened the season Thursday night with a high-scoring victory at home over West Texas A&M. Ranked 6th in the nation in D-II, the Thunderwolves knocked off the Buffaloes 44-34.
Two players on CSU-Pueblo rushed for over 100 yards including Widefield H.S. grad Chris Ashe. Playing in his first collegiate game, Ashe also ran for an 8-yard touchdown. Aurora native J.B. Mathews added 186 yards on the ground and a pair of TD's.
Off to a 1-0 start, the T-Wolves will get a nine-day break before hitting the road to play Northwestern Oklahoma State.
