Wolf Creek Ski Area closed after death of employee

Wolf Creek Ski Area along the Continental Divide in Southern Colorado is closed because of an avalanche that killed one person.

The Mineral County Sheriff's Office got a call about the avalanche at about 9:25 this morning.  About 30 minutes later, according to the Sheriff's Office they got another call asking that the Sheriff and Coroner be called. 

Shortly after 11 a.m. the ski area's website had this message:

"Wolf Creek Ski Area will closed today, November 22nd, due to the fatality of a staff member. Lifts will begin operating tomorrow at 8:30 a.m."

The area is under a blizzard warning until 8 p.m. with one to two feet of snow accumulation expected by 8 p.m.  Wolf Creek had this morning reported 13 inches of new snow since yesterday.
