Witnesses say Pueblo man was trying to break-up fight when he was fatally shot

According to court documents obtained by News 5 Eddie Johnson, 25, was attempting to break-up a fight when he was fatally shot in Pueblo last Tuesday.

Just before 2 a.m. Pueblo Police were called to the 2100-block of Cedar Street on a report of a shooting, they found Johnson lying dead in the front yard of a home.

Witnesses told investigators that Johnson had been inside the home with a number of other people when Taria Wilhite-Moore and Marquece Phillips arrived and began arguing with another man in the house. Phillips and the other man went outside and began fighting, Johnson attempted to intervene. Wilhite-Moore allegedly pulled out a gun and began firing, Johnson is said to have tried to get the gun from her but was shot in the chest.

Police say Wilhite-Moore and Phillips fled the scene, the SWAT team later arrested Wilhite-Moore at her home on the 2100-block of Vinewood Ln. She is facing a charge of first degree murder and had her first appearance in court on Monday morning.
