Winter weather hits Monument, Palmer Lake

The last day of summer brought snow, freezing rain, and wind to Monument and Palmer Lake.

This blast of winter caught some travelers from England by surprise.

"We don't get as much, so it's a bit strange. With the mountain, I guess you expect something, don't you? It can change that quickly. But yeah, different," says Raymond Jeffery who is vacationing in Colorado for 18 days with his friends.

Not much was sticking to the ground or the vegetation by Monday night, but snow trucks were driving up and down Monument Hill, and putting down sand on any slick roads.
