A weather disturbance approaching Colorado from the west has prompted several watches, warnings, and advisories across the state.
In Southern Colorado specifically, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect through Saturday for northern El Paso County, Teller County, the Wet Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Sawatch Mountains, Cheyenne County, and Kiowa County. In these areas, 6-8 inches of snowfall accumulation is expected along with wind gusting to as high as 45 mph. Blowing snow will reduce visibility and create very dangerous driving conditions Friday night and Saturday.
A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for northern Elbert and Lincoln Counties, and for the rest of the Northeastern Colorado Plains. Snowfall accumulations of 6-13 inches and winds gusting up to 45 mph and dangerous travel conditions are expected.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the central and northern mountains along and west of the Continental Divide. Snowfall accumulations of 4-8 inches, with locally higher amounts, are expected. Winds will gust to 25-30 mph.
