A blistery winter storm rocked though Colorado Springs Sunday making for one scary drive. "It's been pretty much packed snow everywhere you go. Intersections are icy." says Ken Winkler with the cities Street Division. The ice and snow prompted a full response of 44 trucks from the city but it piled up faster than crews could plow it. "What's been happening is almost as soon as we get through with one of the primary areas and then go onto others we have to come back and re-do them because it's been snowing pretty hard!" explains Winckler. Winkler also wanted to remind drivers to stay a safe distance back from all plow trucks when they are out on the streets. On Sunday many drivers were getting too close beside and behind the plows.
Colorado Springs Police & Colorado State Patrol have been busy "off and on" with minor accidents. Road conditions are icy and snow-packed in much of the state. For current road conditions, call i-877-315-ROAD or visit www.cotrip.org
