Wildlife officials warn drivers to watch for moose

FRISCO, Colo. (AP) - Colorado wildlife managers say the state's growing moose population could cause problems for drivers, especially during mating season.
Wildlife managers in Summit County say at least six moose have been involved in serious car accidents in the area this year.
Earlier this month a 31-year-old New Castle resident died after a vehicle she was riding in collided with a moose on Interstate 70 near Frisco.
Summit County District Wildlife Manager Shannon Schwab says that every year, about six to 10 bears and five to eight adult moose die on major Summit County roads.
The dark fur of a moose can make it difficult to spot at night, and since moose are about 6 feet tall at the shoulder, a vehicle's headlights might only pick up its legs.
