DENVER (AP) - Wildlife officials are taking another look at bringing wolverines back to Colorado. The state started considering the idea when it looked at
reintroducing lynx years ago, but the state proceeded with lynx first, in 1999.

Colorado Division of Wildlife Director Tom Remington says wildlife officials are looking at wolverines again now that lynx have been successfully reintroduced, and now that a wolverine that wandered into Colorado from Wyoming last year has shown it can survive.

On Monday, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said the animals should be a candidate for federal protection. Remington says that adds impetus to reintroducing them here.
