Each year, homes are threatened and hundreds of acres are burned in Wildland fires. El Paso County is seeking volunteers for its Wildland Fire Crew.

Volunteers will receive extensive training. The next Wildland Fire Academy is scheduled to start April 11.

In addition to fighting fires in El Paso County, volunteers will be called upon to provide mutual aid assistance to other agencies such as Fort Carson, U.S. Forest Service, Colorado State Forest Service, Colorado Springs Utilities and neighboring city and county fire departments.

Volunteers should be over the age of 18.

Pick up an application at 210 South Tejon Street, Colorado Springs.
