When temperatures go up so does crime

When temperatures go up it is typical to also see a rise in theft and burglary crimes. With a warm weekend ahead police warn everyone to be careful about things like leaving windows open when you are not home.

Officers say criminals look for opportunity. One of the easiest targets is a garage left open. "That's something we see a lot of during the summer time months is garage doors left open, says Colorado Springs Police Sergeant Darrin Abbink, "That leaves cars exposed, that leaves valuables exposed and a lot of people forget to lock that interior door between your garage and home."
