The weather improved overnight enough to help the morning commute in northern El Paso County. Last night Baptist Road was closed for awhile because it got so slick. But by 4 a.m. all the weather warnings had been canceled, except for a small area around Castle Rock. While there's snow on the ground -- 2 inches in Monument and 4 inches in Woodland Park -- the roads have fared pretty well.
Speeds on I-25 north of Colorado Springs averaged around 50 miles per hour or more as of 5 a.m. though the snow was still falling.
Still, expect gusty winds later in the morning, which could cause visibility problems. And it will be a cold day with highs around 30.
