Watermain break shuts down water in Boone

A watermain break in the town of Boone in eastern Pueblo County left residents without water for much of Sunday.

Around 8am people realized they didn't have water, and workers with the water department found a watermain break. Water was off until 5pm Sunday when the line was fixed.

After they repair, the health department checked the water and said it is safe, but found slightly raised nitrate levels, and are recommending that infants under 6-months and pregnant women not drink the water as a precaution.

The water will be checked again this week to make sure that the nitrate levels are back to normal.
