Words like "emergency" and "scary" were used Monday to describe the toll the drought is taking on the water supply in Southern Colorado. "We are looking at a significant, I'll call crisis," said Colorado Springs Utilities, CEO, Jerry Forte.
Colorado Springs Utilities water managers went before the Colorado Springs City Council with proposed plans for saving water. The want to impose two day a week watering restrictions starting in April and there would be penalties on the bills of people who use excessive water. There are also options for increasing restrictions if the situation continues to get worse.
Council will make a decision next month on whether to approve the proposal.
