It's that time of year to get jobs done around the house that have been piling up -- or at least hire someone to do it for you.
The Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado says beware before you pay for service, scammers are looking for ways to take advantage of you. They say every year they hear from people who are scammed by people claiming to have some left over supplies and are willing to do some extra job around your house.
"They go from town to town, state to state and offer their services at really discounted rates, but what they're really doing is ripping you off," Katie Carrol of the BBB of Southern Colorado.
Carrol says a good, quick check is to ask for a phone number for their company and give it a call. You can also check the reputations of local businesses through the Better Business Bureau, online. Click on this link to search the reputations of local businesses.
