Warm & Windy To Start Work Week

A gorgeous Father's Day.  Temperatures topped out in the 70's and 80's Sunday afternoon.  This makes for the "coolest" Father's Day since 2004 in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.  Hope you got a chance to enjoy the nice weather today as things are heating up for the beginning of the work week.

Overnight temperatuers will drop in to the upper 40's and 50's under clear skies.

Sunny skies should be the rule for Monday.  Temperatures will soar in to the upper 80's to middle/upper 90's.  Colorado Springs should top out around 87 and Pueblo around 96.

Winds will be on the increase, especially during the early afternoon through the evening.  At times, winds could gust 20-30mph.

RED FLAG WARNING

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for El Paso County.  The warning is in effect from noon until 9pm MT Monday.

ISS VIEWING OPPORTUNITY

We've got a cheap (free), neat opportunity coming for southern Colorado.  The International Space Station will by flying overhead Monday night and Tuesday night.  Listed below are the times and areas to look to be able to see it.

Monday:

  • Time: 10:09pm
  • Duration: 3 minutes
  • Where to Look:  Enters the sky in northern sky... exits the north/northeastern sky.

Tuesday:

  • Time: 9:20pm
  • Duration: 3 minutes
  • Where to Look:  Enters the sky in the northern sky... exits the north/northeastern sky.
  • Time: 10:56pm
  • Duration: 2 minutes
  • Where to Look:  Enters the northwestern sky... exits the west/northwestern sky.

Thursday:

  • Time: 9:19pm
  • Duration: 4 minutes
  • Where to Look:  Enters the north/northwetern sky... exits the eastern sky.

It is a great event to share with kids.  Even better, the space station always arrives on time.  If you see a moving object in the sky one minute early or ten minutes after the times listed above, it isn't the ISS.  - Meteorologist John Dissauer
