The Pueblo County Sheriff is looking for a wanted man who they say burst into a Pueblo West home where a woman and her 4-year-old son were sleeping. It happened Friday morning in the 600 block of Simla Drive.
They're looking for John Kenneth Anthony Cruz. Investigators say the 27-year-old was driving a car with no license plate in the area of Highway 50 and Purcell Blvd. when a deputy tried to stop him.
The Deputy says Cruz sped up and entered a residential area near a school. The deputy did not chase the suspect any further, but saw the car again a short time later. This time a woman was behind the wheel. After being questioned, she told the deputy she switched places in the car with Cruz.
After getting reports from neighbors that a man was running through backyards on Simla Dr. deputies canvassed the area.
They were contacted by a resident in the 600 block of Simla Dr. who said a man threw a river rock through a bedroom window, shattering it and he dove through the window where a woman and her four year old son were sleeping.
Neither the woman nor the child was seriously injured. The suspect then left the residence and has not been found.
In addition to todays incident, Cruz is wanted on the following warrants:
Colorado Dept. of Corrections - Flight Escape No Bond, F3
Alamosa County Sheriff's Office - Flight Escape, $50,000 Bond, F3
Pueblo County Sheriff's Office - Domestic Violence, 3rd Degree Assault, No Bond, M1.
Anyone who may have information on the whereabouts of John Kenneth Anthony Cruz is encouraged to contact the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office at (719)583-6250 or Crime Stoppers (719)542-STOP.
