Walsenburg hospital and vet nursing home prepared for evacuation

Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC) and the Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home (CSVNH) are currently continuing operations and have not evacuated the facility.

Preparations have been made for possible evacuation of patients and residents in the event the situation changes. Lodging and transportation have been arranged to transfer the majority of our residents to the Pueblo State Hospital and other facilities in Trinidad, Pueblo and Florence. The facility has transportation on-site to relocate staff and residents in the event the situation changes. SPRHC is continuing to provide services in the Emergency Room.

The Spanish Peaks Family Clinic is open today until 4:30 p.m. and has appointment availability this afternoon. The La Veta Family Clinic is closed and those patients have been rescheduled to the main campus Family Clinic. You may contact the clinic at (719) 738-4590.

The facility is performing fire mitigation currently by increasing our fire-safe perimeter. San Isabel Electric is assisting with this process.

Preparations are being made to set-up an alternative location in the event of evacuation. This location will be at the Huerfano County Airport outside Walsenburg. However, this move will not occur until evacuation is necessary. They will continue to provide services at the hospital until that time.
