Hundreds of Wasson High School students, PTA members, community members, and alumni, including Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage, are marching from Wasson to the School District 11 administration building to protest the school's possible closure. A decision on whether to shutter the school, built in 1959, will be made in a Board of Education meeting Wednesday night. Gossage, a member of the Class of 1970, worries about what will happen to the 900 Wasson students who would be distributed throughout other D-11 schools if Wasson closes. District officials are withholding any public comment until Wednesday's public meeting.
