Colorado Springs police are looking for the man who stole prescription painkillers from the Wallgreens store at 7390 Rangewood Drive this afternoon. He is believed to be the same suspect responsible for the robberies of six Wallgreens stores in recent weeks.
Officials tells News 5 the M.O. is always the same; the suspect approaches the pharmacy unnoticed, slips the pharmacist a note stating that he is armed, and demands narcotics. He is desribed as a light-skinned black male, about 5' 6" to 5' 8" in height, with a slight build. He wears a dark hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses to cover his face.
Sgt. Jim Jeffcoat of CSPD urges store employees to be aware of individuals concealing their identities in light of the robberies. "I would advise people that run stores, especially stores that are open 24 hours, to be leary or be aware of people that are coming in with their hoodies up or hoods up or anything that's covering their face," he said today.
Sgt. Jeffcoat tells News 5 that CSPD wants this suspect badly and has a team working to catch him; he urges anyone who sees or knows this individual to contact police immediately. Because he may be armed and under the influence of drugs, he is considered dangerous.
