On Tuesday, students at East High School showed up to school sporting wacky socks and funky hairdos. Across town at South High, students wore pink shirts, pink shoes, pink socks and pink headbands. It's spirit week at both schools. On Friday they'll face-off at the annual Cannon game, a traditional football rivalry between the schools. The schools compete for pride, glory and the coveted cannon.
Football players at South will wear pink wrist guards during the game. The school is trying to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Students at East will hold an assembly on Friday to honor 50 alumni, as part of the school's 50th anniversary.
The Cannon game is at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16 at Dutch Clark Stadium.
Tickets are now on sale at both schools. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for students or senior citizens, and $13 for a family ticket (2 adults and 3 students; or 1 adult and 4 students.)
South High currently has possession of the cannon.
