The Bureau of Land Management is asking for volunteers to work on a five-mile trail on the southwest side of Canon City.
The trail is on BLM land and will eventually serve walker and mountain bike riders. Volunteers from the Lower Arkansas Mountain Bike Association (LAMBA) and students from Garden Park High School have been working on the three mile lower loop since the spring of 2010.
Royal Gorge Field Office is looking for volunteers to help with a National Public Lands Day (NPLD) project on Oct. 16 for the ongoing construction of a five-mile mountain bike and foot trail on BLM lands southwest of Cañon City.
"Volunteers expand our capacity to increase recreational opportunities on public lands. LAMBA's proposal provided an excellent opportunity for the BLM to develop a trail that gives the public quick access to the outdoors, enjoy the scenery, and get a good workout," noted Keith Berger, Royal Gorge Field Manager.
