Global Youth Service Day was in full force in the Cascade area on Saturday.
A reseeding project was organized by the Coalition for the Upper South Platte around deposition bases in the Pyramid Mountain Estates area. Volunteers helped mitigate flood damage to slow down the velocity of water.
"Volunteering is the most important thing that we have as a community," says Paige Fulghum, a Natural Resource Technician. "We come together, we learn how to work as a team, we do it to understand what mitigation efforts need to be made and what we need to do to take care of the forest."
The coalition organized more than 100 projects last year with the help of 6,000 volunteers.
