Volunteers asked to help create a museum exhibit

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is inviting people to help research and build an exhibit.

Volunteers will go into the museum's collection and work with staff members to build something to put on display.

The project will include research, construction, label writing and installation.

"The Museum Experience is a wonderful opportunity for citizens to become engaged in the true process of creating a museum exhibit," says Matt Mayberry, Director of the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum. "With the Museum Experience, we will give community curators an unprecedented opportunity to explore the collection and really understand the stories behind the artifacts they choose to display in our new community gallery."

The deadline to register for the first workshop, Art in the Pikes Peak Region, is February 15. Registration cost covers two full workshop days (Feb. 26 and March 12) and final installation work on March 26 followed by a celebratory exhibit opening reception at 5:30 pm. Cost is $125 for Museum Members and $150 for non-Members. For more information and registration, please email COSMuseum@springsgov.com, call 719-385-5990 or visit the website.

The Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is located downtown in the restored 1903 El Paso County Courthouse. The Museum is free and open to the public Tuesday- Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
