The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office is using new technology to make jail visitations more efficient. They're using a system called VizVox, which is a lot like Skype.
Inmates and visitors no longer have face to face contact, instead they speak to each other over a phone and see each other through a video camera.
"We're better able to utilize the deputy's time instead of having to move inmates from the 5th floor down to where they used to visit on the first floor. They're able to communicate right there form their own housing location so the deputies don't have to transport them," said Capt. David Lucero, with the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office.
Visitors can use the video system at the jail or at the Sacred Heart Church in Avondale. The sheriff's office is hoping to expand the program to have systems in other areas of the county.
You can schedule a visit with an inmate through the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office website. On the homepage click on "Schedule an Inmate Visit".
