Very cold and snow expected across southern Colorado

There are major changes in the weather from what you saw on Tuesday. This is because an arctic cold front has moved into the region overnight, bringing wintry weather conditions to much of the area.

The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY that will go into effect from 5 pm today through 5 pm tomorrow for the Wet Mountains, southern Sangre de Cristo Mountains and southern front range foothills which includes Rye, Walsenburg, Cuchara and Trinidad. A range of 5 to 10 inches of snow are possible in these areas by tomorrow evening!

In other areas, snow accumulations near the Academy will be close to 3 to 5 inches, Colorado Springs will see 2 to 4 inches, Pueblo will see closer to 1 to 3 inches, and the eastern Plains will see about an inch.

Roads will be slick across Southern Colorado today and tomorrow, due to the cold and snowy weather. So drive carefully, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going.
