Government officials in Vail have voted to ban medical marijuana dispensaries from ever operating within the popular skiing destination.
Vail Council members who voted for the ban Tuesday say marijuana dispensaries would contradict with the image they've tried to set for the town. One of the seven council members voted against the ban. Vail had a moratorium on the businesses in place.
The Colorado Legislature passed a bill this year to regulate medical marijuana dispensaries. Gov. Bill Ritter has not yet signed the bill but he's expected to. The bill includes a provision that allows cities and towns to ban dispensaries.
