USAA (AP) In a response to a report from The Wall Street Journal, reporting a potential security issue with the latest mobile smart phone banking applications, USAA implemented a complete fix solution for the USAA Mobil Banking App for AndroidTM.
viaForensics, a digital forensics firm, collaborating with The Wall Street Journal, tested several banking applications from at least seven different financial institutions and reported that their findings identified a potential vulnerability within USAA's application on the AndroidTM and showed that USAA's Mobile App on the iPhone® is completely secure and passed all tests.
In less than 24 hours, USAA implemented the fix and saysUSAA members do not need to download a new app to receive this additional security.
No USAA members have identified that any data has been lost as a result of this potential vulnerability. "The security of USAA's mobile application for Android was already strong," says Gary McAlum, senior vice president and chief security officer with USAA. "And now we've been able to strengthen the security of the USAA application even further."
"We remain committed to ensuring our members benefit from the highest levels of security in online and mobile transactions," says McAlum.
