USA Pro Challenge seeks volunteers for 2014 race, Aug. 18-24

DENVER (June 10, 2014) - The USA Pro Challenge is seeking volunteers for the professional cycling race, which will travel through some of Colorado's most scenic regions August 18-24. Cycling fans and enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in this momentous event by signing up for volunteer positions along the 550-mile course in Aspen, Snowmass, Crested Butte, Gunnison, Monarch Mountain, Colorado Springs, Woodland Park, Breckenridge, Vail, Boulder and Denver.

Last year, the third-annual race featured approximately 3,500 volunteers in communities throughout the state, helping to craft a seamless and successful event from start to finish and establishing the USA Pro Challenge as the largest sporting event in the state of Colorado. Each of the host cities featured as many as 400 local volunteers recruited to help staff Americas Race last year.

Volunteers looking for an opportunity to participate in the race can apply online for positions at http://www.prochallenge.com/volunteer-signup. The majority of volunteers are needed to serve as course marshals, providing support to professional course marshals that travel with the Tour and the local law enforcement authorities in each host city. Volunteers selected as course marshals will have the unique opportunity to be present on the race route, in a close proximity to the cyclists, and are tasked with monitoring pedestrian traffic, street closures and barricades.

"The thousands of volunteers that donate their time each year play a large part in making the USA Pro Challenge so successful," said Shawn Hunter, CEO of the USA Pro Challenge. "Our volunteer course marshals are a major component of what makes this event seamless and we couldn't be more appreciative of their time and energy."

All volunteers must be over the age of 18 or accompanied by an adult. Group registrations are also available. All volunteers will receive a free USA Pro Challenge t-shirt as a token of appreciation for their hard work, in addition to a front row seat to experience the excitement. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for multiple stages, but not multiple cities within the same stage.
