USA Pro Challenge riders head back to mountains

WOODLAND PARK, Colo. (AP) - Aspen's Tejay van Garderen still has the yellow jersey as the USA Pro Challenge riders head back into the mountains.

Friday's 104-mile stage begins in Woodland Park and eventually climbs to include the highest point in the race - 11,500-foot Hoosier Pass. The riders will pass through Fairplay and Alma and end on an uphill finish in Breckenridge.

Italian racer Elia Viviani used a powerful surge near the finish to win Thursday's stage in Colorado Springs, beating out crowd favorite Jens Voigt.

Van Garderen of BMC Racing retained his 20-second overall lead.
